Back to another fantastic week of recertifying rescue teams/Emergency Medical Responders in basic life support and first aid/cpr. Reality based training is important as validates a true understanding of skill sets while under pressure mentally and physically. This type of training improves confidence and proficiency while showing individual weaknesses that can be improved on with additional training. Being an emergency medical responder is a perishable skill set that has to be practiced routinely in order to be proficient at a high degree. So, when it comes to training the bare minimum is highly advised against as that is exactly the level most will perform to when under stress. Invest in the training and test your team members so everyone will have an honest assessment as to where their skill sets are and what needs to be worked on.
