When emergencies or accidents occur in the workplace, time is of the essence in many cases. Depending on the workplace environment and hazards involved, professional medical response could be delayed by minutes to even hours until the scene is safe. With that in mind, employees on scene may be the only immediate help available to assist or help the injured. Workplace safety starts with everyone and not just with simply prevention. Having employees trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, Basic/Advanced First Aid, and other work place safety programs is vital to having a positive outcome in an emergency situation. Depending on your occupational hazards or industry, OSHA may require you to have specific training related to your work environment in order to avoid noncompliance and monetary fines. Not to mention if employees are trained in basic life saving measures, the liability factor may be significantly reduced compared to not having employees trained. Especially when a fatality is preventable if basic life saving measure were to have been implemented.
By having active responders who are passionate about education and professional services, you have members of the pre-hospital community that have the most up to date knowledge and skill sets available.
